Paterson Simons has successfully supported the mobilisation of a Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbour Crane from Meridian Port Services (MPS) Tema, Ghana, to West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) in Onne, Nigeria, strengthening port handling capacity in the region.
The crane, a Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbour Crane GHMK 8412, was carefully loaded at MPS Tema on 1–2 March before being transported to Nigeria and safely offloaded at WACT Onne Terminal.
This strategic relocation will help increase operational move-rate capacity at WACT Onne, supporting more efficient cargo handling and improved terminal productivity.
The crane joins an existing fleet of two Konecranes Gottwald GHMK 7508 cranes already operating at WACT, bringing the terminal’s Gottwald fleet to three units and further strengthening lifting capability for demanding port operations.
The project required close coordination between Konecranes specialists, terminal teams and Paterson Simons service engineers in both Ghana and Nigeria to ensure the safe loading, transportation and installation of the crane.
Paterson Simons would like to thank all teams involved in Ghana and Nigeria for their collaboration and professionalism, which ensured the successful completion of this complex mobilisation.
With decades of experience supporting port equipment across West and Central Africa, Paterson Simons continues to provide the technical expertise required to maintain uptime and maximise operational performance for customers across the region.
