Kempower and APM Terminals have signed a global framework agreement to deploy DC fast-charging infrastructure across APM Terminals’ international network of container terminals, supporting the company’s ongoing transition towards more sustainable port operations.
The three-year agreement will see Kempower supply high-power charging solutions to support battery-electric container handling equipment as APM Terminals continues to decarbonise its operations and reduce reliance on diesel-powered machinery.
APM Terminals, part of the A.P. Moller – Maersk group, operates container terminals in 35 countries worldwide. Under the agreement, charging infrastructure will be deployed at selected terminals according to APM Terminals’ investment plans and operational requirements.
Pilot projects are already underway at terminals in Mexico, Morocco and Peru, where the first electric container handling vehicles are being introduced as part of broader electrification initiatives.
The agreement forms part of APM Terminals wider decarbonisation roadmap, which includes transitioning to battery-electric equipment and integrating renewable energy solutions across terminal operations.
