Terberg Special Vehicles has received an order from Marsa Maroc for 106 electric terminal tractors, marking the largest single order for Terberg EV terminal tractors to date.

The order provides further evidence of strong momentum across Africa towards port electrification, as operators invest in lower-emission, future-ready terminal equipment.

The machines will be built in Malaysia and deployed at the new Nador West Med terminal in Morocco.

Equipped with high-capacity batteries for multi-shift operations, the electric terminal tractors reflect growing confidence in Terberg’s latest-generation EV technology, supported by proven performance at terminals worldwide.

Marsa Maroc, Morocco’s largest port operator, is developing the greenfield Nador West Med terminal in partnership with Terminal Investment Limited and CMA CGM. The new terminal will provide 1,520 metres of quay, 70 hectares of yard space and an annual capacity of 3.4 million TEU, with the first phase scheduled to become operational in early 2027.

As port operators increasingly prioritise decarbonisation, energy efficiency and improved working environments, electric terminal tractors are becoming a core part of long-term fleet strategies.

Terberg’s latest-generation EV technology delivers a reduced carbon footprint, lower maintenance requirements and performance levels comparable to diesel-powered alternatives.
