Konecranes has reached a major milestone in sustainable port operations by securing its first-ever global order for a fully battery-driven Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) crane. The order was placed by long-standing customer GCT Global Container Terminals in Canada, marking a significant step forward in eco-efficient container handling. As part of this order, 10 hybrid Konecranes RTGs will be delivered to GCT Deltaport, while a fully electric, battery-powered RTG will be deployed at GCT Vanterm. The battery RTG will operate within a pilot programme supporting GCT’s ambitious net-zero emissions strategy.
