Plant Sales Engineer

We are seeking a Plant Sales Engineer who will be responsible for seeking, developing and closing sales for lifting equipment plant sales and associated service within defined territorial limits predominantly to the ports and mining industries in West Africa.

To be successful the Engineer will need to develop strong relationships with customers, liaise closely with internal departments to ensure excellent customer service whilst ensuring the potential plant equipment order is fit for purpose as well as meeting the commercial requirements of the Paterson Simons Group. There will be reporting of progress on pipeline and orders and in order to understand the availability of opportunity the development and execution of both business and marketing strategy will be important.

Along with plant sales identifying opportunities for sales of Group service, inspections and supply of spare parts forms part of the role with opportunities handed over to the relevant department for execution.

The ideal candidate is likely to have a degree in Engineering or relevant industry experience and be able to demonstrate technical knowledge of lifting equipment. Being a self-starter with drive and ambition to manage the demands of the role, travel and location is necessary along with being a strong effective communicator with diplomacy and understanding of the various cultures in which we operate. Fluent or native French language skills will also be useful as many of the customers and suppliers have French or English as a second language.

Whilst the role is Brighton based there will be extensive travel to West Africa.
