The Grove GRT9165 was delivered  by Paterson Simons to Newmont Africa in late 2022. This 3 axle 150 MT model is the largest rough terrain crane in the world, and the first one delivered in Africa.

This GRT9165 joins the existing fleet of lifting equipment supplied and maintained by Paterson Simons Group on the Ahafo South mine and Ahafo North Project.

With a class leading 62,5 m (205 ft) main boom, new wider full vision cab, intuitive Crane Control System (CCS), reduced transport height, and best in class load charts, the Grove GRT9165 will be a valuable asset to Newmont Africa.

Some 10 years ago Newmont was the first customer in Africa to purchase the 135MT RT9150E, then the largest Rough Terrain in the world, a crane still working successfully today.

Paul Rogers, Sales Director, Manitowoc, said ‘’This is the first delivery of a new model of the Grove GRT9165 in Africa, to a valuable customer. It is going to be a winner! We look forward to more similar successes in the territory.’’

In addition, Newmont have also recently acquired a GMK5200-1 and a GRT880.
