Did you know that Guinea has officially begun exporting iron ore from Simandou, marking a historic milestone for the country and the global mining sector?

Home to the world’s largest untapped high-grade iron ore reserves, the Simandou project is set to reshape the economic landscape of the region.

Positioned to become Africa’s second-largest mineral exporter, Guinea’s government and project partners have invested heavily in unlocking this world-class resource. The development includes a new 600km railway and dedicated port infrastructure built to move ore efficiently from the country’s mineral-rich southeastern corridor to global markets.

Simandou is divided into four blocks operated by major international players, including Winning Consortium Simandou and Rio Tinto Plc, who have worked jointly with the Guinean government to bring this long-awaited project to life.

This achievement marks the beginning of a new industrial era for Guinea, opening the door to stronger economic growth, new jobs, and expanded trade opportunities.

At Paterson Simons, we are looking forward to supporting equipment in the area as development accelerates and demand for reliable lifting and handling solutions grows!
