Pasico Ghana Ltd. has hosted its' first Crane Safety Conference in Takoradi, Ghana. The two day event held at the Raybow Hotel was attended by senior representatives of the Rental, Port, Mining and Oil & Gas industries and included sessions on Understanding Loadcharts, Owner Responsibilities, Safety Standards, Safe Load Indicators, Crane Selection and Telehandler Safety. Presentations were made by guest speakers from Crane Certification & Inspection Bureau, Manitowoc Crane Group, PAT Kruger Systems NL, Konecranes Industrial Cranes and JCB Industrial.
Following the conclusion of the event John Traynor, COO of Paterson Simons said 'this was an event we have been keen to put on for some time. In the course of our daily work we percieve a lot of curiosity about the specialised lifting equipment that we handle particularly at managerial level and it was our intention to convey the technical basics of crane ownership. Judging by the lively questions we received during each session it satisfied a real thirst for knowledge and we are pleased at the response from the attending delegates.'

The event marked the launch of Pasico's dedicated CIT (Certification, Inspection and Training) division. Pasico Ghana Ltd. has been at the forefront of Crane Safety in Ghana over the last decade starting with the introduction of Annual Certification to recognised International Standards and subsequently introducing Periodic Inspections, Lifting Sling and Shackle Certification and Inspections, Lift Planning and Operator Training - activities which all now fall under the remit of the dedicated Pasico CIT division. During the official launch of Pasico CIT John Traynor said 'we view this conference as being an extension to the safety work we do in the field giving us the chance to introduce concepts for best practice of crane ownership which long term will reduce both accident rates and operational expenditure to the benefit of our customers and following the success of this event it is one we plan to keep in our schedule in future years'.
